To My Dearest



The adventures I’ve had with you for eleven years are countless and the joy you’ve brought me is immeasurable. 

You carried me through my tears and pain, you instinctively knew and brought me to Alwarpet Anjeyneyar’s doorstep every - every time I need it, you bore the brunt through three accidents and lessened the impact for me, you waded through knee deep water and kept me dry, you lit and guided and held fear back as I rode through every dark street, you calmed my nerves as you took me to job interviews and numerous exams, you absorbed my road rage every time I shouted bastard and bitch, you kept the pace with every beat, step and song of mine and you survived and emerged stronger after two hate/rage filled attacks.

You’ve taught me to never take my eyes of the road and to never stop journeying and adventuring. I don’t know when I will ever go on another adventure with you. But until I have one last ride with you, goodbye my trusted travel partner, friend and confidante; my cute, black TVS XL Super.

I had my first plate of curd rice with mangoes in almost two years. Watermelon and mango are two fruits I’ve never purchased after moving to Canada. When a wonderful colleague at a friend gave me a mango I took it home and it sat in my kitchen counter for a week until I could not bear seeing it shrink. Love letter to my beautiful mother who is my strength and my everything, which I wrote a few weeks before I moved to Canada. I’ve always loved my name and have hated it when people butchered it over the years! Anyone who calls me Saranya has been subject to my death stare and immense contempt.
